Smartwatches have taken the watch industry by storm and ever since its inception, all brands, including designer brands are rolling out different versions of this wearable technology.

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter wears a gold Apple Watch

Technology companies such as Samsung, Motorola and LG were the first to bring out watches that could be linked to their phones and allowed users to have a hands-free experience. However, now even designer companies like Guess, Michael Kors and Armani are giving in to the demand and have or are in the process of introducing smartwatches with better designs when compared to those of the technology brands.

The Apple watch was recently introduced, which shook the market – both in a positive and negative way. Brand loyalists were impressed by the watch, but many were unhappy with the product design and felt that it could've been much better.

The Steve Jobs-founded company also introduced a limited edition solid gold version of the watch, probably silencing the design-critics for a bit. Priced at a whopping $30,000 - $40,000, most people did not see the point of it. However, several celebrities seem to beg to differ, many of whom have been spotted sporting this flashy piece on their wrists.

Queen of the music industry, Beyonce Knowles, was one of the first celebrities to be seen wearing this watch. Mrs. Carter was spotted flashing her new toy at the 2015 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California. She even uploaded an image of her wearing the time piece matching her typical Coachella outfit at the festival.

This limited-edition version of the watch is sold-out worldwide, but the other variations are available.
